(This is reproduced from the posting I made on my Facebook Page on 6th July 2025.)
Over the years, I have accumulated a good number of self portraits which were given to me by my staff, associates and friends. I never realised I have so many artists and painters in my midst. The one thing I find attractive about these pieces of art compared to digital photos is that they ooze with the subtle interpretation of ourselves by the artist. Everyone has an idea of who you are.
Though I appreciate the drawings (a few pieces of which are shown here in the photo), I would keep them in a private place. Having them in the office or in a highly visible area in the house can be a little too self serving.
However, I do have a couple of abstract art of myself in the bedroom. The sight of them as I wake up or go to sleep has a strong way of reminding me of the life I’ve made, in ways I choose to perceive it. It’s a reminder of our responsibility to care for ourselves and others. Those abstracts, which look seemingly unattractive, don’t flatter. They serve for us to self-reflect.
