Recently I visited one of HCK Capital Group’s ongoing projects, Edusphere @ Cyberjaya, with one of my aides, Kuuberan Nithiyananthan, director of growth and implementation. My occasional inspections on the ground helps to collaborate the updates given to me at office meetings. Nothing beats getting a feel of the vibrancy of communities that we’ve helped to create.

HCK’s current and upcoming mixed development projects within the Klang Valley have a combined gross development value (GDV) of more than RM15 billion, and Edusphere with a GDV of RM1.8 billion by itself, is considered one of the bigger ventures in our stable.

The first 3 phases of Edusphere has already been completed, constituting 3 residential towers, the University of Cyberjaya campus and retail spaces, inclusive of a KFC and a MCDonalds drive-thru. We made several rounds at the place and I’m glad to find it thriving and bustling. The shoplots have high take-up rates, and the retail businesses enjoy good support from the students and residents.

The subsequent final 3 phases will be renamed Edusphere Digital, with a strong focus on smart homes and modern conveniences. The main emphasis will be on top-level security and safety for both residents and visitors, backed by technology and artificial intelligence. It will also include a health hub, pet-friendly residential towers and larger condominiums targeted at overseas purchasers.

We have sold and delivered RM700 million worth of properties in Edusphere’s earlier phases. The new launches for Edusphere Digital is set to bring about an additional gross developmental value (GDV) of about RM1.1 billion. With such an intensive mobilization and capital injection into a single undertaking, the face and footprints in Cyberjaya should be greatly enhanced.

It’s the art of making a meaningful whole out of many parts. As we shape our skylines, we try to reshape our imaginations in new ways for new projects.
