Everyday, we seem to be getting more busy than before. Our to-do list gets longer by the day as the time we spend on leisure activities or with the family gets shorter. Technology, which is supposed to help us manage our lives better, is ironically making us even more hurried.
Living in the corporate fast lane, I too can get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work that needs my attention. In many cases, the buck stops on my desk. There are decisions to be made, problems to solve and opportunities to explore. Work seems to continue piling up while the clock appears to tick faster as the days go by.
But who are we to complain about not getting enough done while time is running out when even the Prime Minister is a man in a hurry? This is despite this being his second Premiership. In an exclusive interview with business weekly Focus Malaysia last week, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he’s “in a hurry”.

And who can blame the 93-year-old PM, who’s on a crusade to set things right? With the burden of the nation’s well-being on his shoulder, he said “I am working three times the rate I was working in 1981 (when he first became PM).”
Despite his age, Tun Dr Mahathir has continued to give his best in what he does. He’s not one to let age deter him from what he’s set his mind to. Such amazing work ethic is something we all can learn from the elder statesman.
